Cadel Evans confirms Tour Down Under startAustralia's road world cycling champion Cadel Evans has confirmed he will race in January's Tour Down Under in South Australia with his new team, BMC Racing. BMC Racing also announced on Friday that US cyclist George Hincapie would compete alongside Evans.

Race director Mike Turtur said the return of two-time Tour de France runner-up Evans to race in Australia was a huge boost to the event. "It is great for the race and for Australian cycling fans that Cadel will be returning to ride at the Tour Down Under," Turtur said.

"Evans brings a wealth of experience in the grand tours to his new team and now as world champion he'll be primed and ready for the challenges of the 2010 cycling season."Hincapie, a long time teammate of Lance Armstrong, will be returning to South Australia for his second appearance in the tour.

"George Hincapie is one of the most recognised riders in the world, with Tour de France stage wins, national championships and professional victories to his credit," Turtur said.
