Friends of double Paralympic cycling champion Simon Richardson, who is critically ill after he was injured in an alleged hit-and-run, are backing him to make a second comeback from serious injury. Mr Richardson, 44, from Porthcawl, suffered multiple fractures in an alleged hit-and-run collision while cycling on the A48 near Bridgend on Wednesday.
The cyclist won two gold medals and a silver at Beijing in 2008 after having previously suffered serious injuries in a cycling incident with a car in 2001. Lucy Owen spoke to Jon Morgan, executive director of Disability Sport Wales, and a trustee of Paralympics GB.
