Scalextric to launch London 2012 cycling set

Posted in : Gossips

(added last year!)

The Micro Scalextric Team GB Track Cycling set follows the company's tried-and-tested slot-racing format, but instead of its usual cars there are two miniature cyclists racing each other. Each of the two electric-powered cyclists' speed is adjusted by a hand controller, giving budding track cyclists a chance to pit themselves against a friend. The track is 272cm long, just over 1/10th scale.

We'll overlook the fact that the individual pursuit has now been ditched from the Olympic cycling events line-up. Scalextric have yet to specify whether you can line up four riders per track to recreate a team pursuit. Although that would probably blow a fuse and invalidate your warranty. The set will be available from September 2011 as a cost of £69.99, just in time to make it on your Christmas list.
